Safer Recruitment

This session, led by Dave Blake of Kapasun Training and Development, aims to develop an understanding of how to safeguard children by ensuring recruitment processes are rigorous, effective and safe. It is aimed at school leaders, governors and others with responsibility for recruitment in schools.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Review the recent updates to 'Keeping Children Safe in Education' and how they relate to the recruitment of staff.
  • Have a greater understanding of the preparation required by schools for recruiting staff.
  • Explore the process for selecting the right candidate for the post(s).
  • Examine and understand the thorough checks that must be undertaken prior to the official appointment of a candidate to a position. 
  • Develop skills in vigilance and recognising potential risks within the recruitment process.
